Local Athlete Wins Gold

ClimateMaster proudly announced its support for Colin Cutter in May 2010 by donating $1,300 to help him fulfill his dream to compete at the International Wheelchair & Amputee Sports Federation World Games.
A native of Piedmont, Okla., Colin Cutter was born with lower body paralysis due to Spina Bifida and requires the use of a wheelchair when participating in athletics. Through Wheel Chair Sports USA, Colin, a Piedmont, OK native, has been competing in several competitions since 2007, and has won multiple awards in wheelchair basketball, table tennis and shot-put, discus and javelin.
This past summer, Colin competed in the International Wheelchair & Amputee Sports Federation Junior World Games in the Czech Republic. Cutter won the Gold medal in Javelin, Bronze medal in Shot Put and placed fifth in Discus.
The following is a letter Colin wrote ClimateMaster following his victorious overseas trip:
Now that I have been home for a few weeks, my trip to the Czech Republic seems like a dream. There are many things that I enjoyed about the trip; representing the United States; touring castles, churches and a concentration camp; experiencing the culture and people of another country; and seeing the Astronomical Clock in Prague. All of these were amazing experiences! However, nothing compares to the surreal experience of winning a Gold medal in world competition and having the United States National Anthem played in a foreign country because of you!
Upon first arriving in the Czech Republic, we toured Prague and surrounding areas for 4 days. Then our team had a four-hour bus ride to Olomouc (OH-la-moats), the competition venue. Field ran for 3 consecutive days with a different implement each day. Bulgaria, Ireland, Brazil, Great Britain, Croatia, Taiwan and Greece were just a few of the countries that were competing in Field competition. I won the Gold medal in Javelin with a distance of 17.24M, a Bronze medal in Shot Put with a personal best distance of 7.44M and placed fifth in Discus with a distance of 21.72M.
I want to thank you for your help making this dream and endeavor of mine happen! Without your financial support and encouragement I have no doubt that I would not have been able to even participate in this great event and life experience! I think perhaps my mom summed it up best with what she posted on her Facebook page which said "Bottle of Fanta - $1.00; airline ticket to Czech Republic $1,300; room/board/miscellaneous - $4,000; hearing the national anthem played in a foreign country because of your son - priceless!"
Thanks again, so much!!!
Colin
